Spokane millionaire F. Lewis Clark built a mansion on the south end of Hayden Lake Lake in 1910. At the time, it was said to be the most expensive house in Idaho. Four years after the house was completed, Clark mysteriously disappeared and was never to be heard from again. The mansion was sold for back taxes in 1919. Over the years, it was used as a boy’s home, restaurant, and a convalescent home. In 1989, the Clark House was purchased by Monty Danner and his son Mark from San Francisco. They restored the 15,000 square foot mansion to its former glory and turned it into an upscale country inn. Hay-12-26
