Research Library

The Museum has a large repository of historic books, manuscripts, ephemera, and printed materials on local history in North Idaho.

MNI Has city directories, school annuals, phone books, a state census index for 1910, abstracts and indexes of marriage records, school censuses, teacher certificates, cemetery listings, homestead patents, probate records etc. for Kootenai County, and limited newspapers.

The research library collection holds Reference books about the museum field, preservation, administration, governing boards, developing and maintaining collections, exhibits, fundraising, and oral history including: audio tapes about labor history in the lumbering industry.

The library is open to researchers Tuesday-Saturday 11am-5pm. An appointment must be made in advance to access the library. Please email dd@museumni.org or by telephone 208-664-3448
