Research Library

The Museum of North Idaho has a large repository of historic books, manuscripts, ephemera, and printed materials on local history in North Idaho, including city directories, school annuals, phone books, a state census index for 1910, abstracts and indexes of marriage records, school censuses, teacher certificates, cemetery listings, homestead patents, probate records etc. for Kootenai County, and limited newspapers.

The research library collection holds reference books, photograph archives, and oral histories, including audio tapes about labor history in the lumbering industry.

The library is open to researchers Monday - Friday from 10am - 5pm. An appointment must be made in advance to access the library. Please email archives@museumni.org or call 208-664-3448 to schedule an appointment.
